Research assistantships (RA)
require the student to help faculty members with research
work.
RAs are controlled by faculty members who have research
grants. These are usually given on the basis of common
research interests between the faculty member and the
student as well as the student's potential for contributing
to the research. Since the availability of research grants
varies with time, students should contact individual faculty
members directly for queries on RAs.
Fellowships:
The university offers
several fellowships to outstanding graduate students.
relevant information may be found from the
Graduate School funding website. The interested student
should consult his or her academic advisor or the Graduate
Program Director for further information on fellowships. The
department nominates deserving candidates for various
fellowship opportunities every year, and the awards are made
by the Graduate School.
Tuition Waivers:
Exceptionally qualified
graduate students who receive TAs and RAs may also be
awarded partial or full waivers from in-state tuition or
out-of-state tuition differentials.
